Carrie Johnson & Taylor Hampton are an acoustic duo that crosses several genres - rock, pop, bluegrass and classic country, but always in their own unique style. Carrie provides strong passionate vocals, memorable melodies, and dynamic rhythm guitar playing, while Taylor lays down clean, lead acoustic guitar, with just the right amount of twang, and a touch of Jazz.
Carrie Johnson is a singer/songwriter who plays acoustic guitar and bass. She got her musical start at the age of 12, when she began singing harmony in her family’s bluegrass band. Soon after she started, she began to sing lead vocals, and fronting her own country band. During that time, she self-produced her debut album, “Aint That Love.” Carrie also spent several years singing in the band “2 Cool”, a regional 80’s rock cover band.
Taylor Hampton is proficient in guitar and mandolin. Taylor was raised in a musical family. His grandfather, Tom Horsley, was a big influence in his life as a person, musician, and in his religious beliefs. Taylor has devoted every moment he can to music. He has studied guitar & mandolin from top musicians.
Carrie & Taylor met in 2012, while playing in a bluegrass band called, “The Velvet Blue.” The band toured Ireland, performing in an international folk festival. In 2013 The Velvet Blue released an album titled “Memories and Heartaches”, which was well received by bluegrass stations worldwide.
Carrie & Taylor have combined their musical efforts, knowledge and talents to form their own acoustic duo. They have created a sound that is unique and allows them to explore all the genres of music they both so love.
