About Electria

Electria is an electric string trio (or duo) made up of two violins and a cello. We are “fusing” these traditionally classical instruments with contemporary music and custom back tracks. Our instruments are not acoustic; they are electric, just as you have acoustic and electric guitars. Electric means that they don’t have “bodies” that amplify the sound naturally like an acoustic instrument; rather, they have to be plugged into amps so the sound can be magnified and manipulated. In addition, we play with a back track. While our arrangements can be played purely with a string trio and sound great, we play with a custom track of the original song without the vocals, which sounds quite a bit fuller than playing with just strings alone.

When you hire Electria, you’re not getting just live music and entertainment; you’re getting an experience. Very few string ensembles can match the music selection that we offer. Not to mention, electric string ensembles are rare and unique, and we’re the only one in our region. But we’re not a one-trick pony because we can also play most of our music on our traditional, classical instruments. If you hire us for your wedding ceremony, we can play a mix of classical and contemporary music from our electric music list. You’ll get unique, cutting-edge music with Electria. We’re simply one-of-a-kind! Your guests will likely have never heard a group quite like ours, and they will certainly be intrigued and entertained. You’ll be hiring live music that is both entertaining while setting a perfect ambiance for your event, and your guests will be talking about it long after the event is over.

Caia is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a Bachelors’ degree in cello performance and music education. She has extensive experience playing with professional orchestras in the Cincinnati/Dayton area. Currently, Caia teaches middle school and high school orchestra in the Jefferson County Public School district where she resides with her husband and two wonderful dogs. She joined Electria in January of 2013 as a founding member and Public Relations Manager.

Zara Originally from Arizona, Zara brings to Electria extensive classical and rock performance styles. She earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s in viola performance, beginning her professional career as a classical chamber and orchestral performer. Her world of rock performance expanded by performing for Clay Aiken, Josh Groban, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Rod Stewart, Johnny Mathis, and Mannheim Steamroller. Zara arranges all the music and is a founding partner of Electria. She has a thriving private lesson studio teaching violin and viola in both Louisville and Lexington areas and currently resides in Versailles, KY with her husband, 6 children, and 3 dogs.

Alison Classically trained on viola, Alison graduated from the University of Louisville with her bachelors in viola performance. Since then, Alison has enjoyed teaching private music lessons for violin, viola and piano. In 2011, she started Louisville Strings, providing acoustic string music for weddings and events. In January of 2013, she joined Electria as a founding member, acting as the Business Manager and joining forcing between Louisville Strings and Electria. Alison is a native of Louisville, where she resides with her husband and son.
