About Prime Cut with Johnny Lyman
Prime Cut has become one of the top bands in the Central Kentucky area. The band was formed in the spring of 2009 by Dewey Pope (drums), Johnny Lyman (lead singer), Wayne Moore (keyboards/vocals) and Kenny Henry (trumpet/vocals).
The primary goal of the group was to form a band composed of both solid Horn and Rhythm Sections to perform cover tunes by Chicago, Tower of Power, Blood Sweat & Tears and Classic Soul , R&B and Motown from the Sixties and Seventies.
To round out this collection of seasoned musicians, Prime Cut brought in Pat Price (trumpet/vocals), Jim Barber (saxophone/vocals), Alan Robinson (lead guitar/vocals), Jim Tegge (bass guitar/vocals) and started rehearsing in May 2009.
The Band also performs several non-horn cover song selections for an even broader audience appeal. The musicians, above, have all spent several years of performing throughout Kentucky, and the nation, to give the group a professional, seasoned and accomplished sound.
In addition to tremendous musicianship on their instruments, Prime Cut's vocal harmonies exhibit their versatile abilities as well. Several of the members in the group have devoted their careers as teachers and educators in the music field.
This experience, professionalism and dedication has made Prime Cut one of the best accepted new groups in the area.
