About Swingin Shepherds

The Swingin' Shepherds Your Choir for Quality Entertainment What best described the music of the Swingin' Shepherds? What words might characterize their unique and appealing sound?

Well, to begin with, the Swingin' Shepherds are a jazz/blues, pop trio, with a very full and dynamic sound. The music swings with a fresh energy, provided by the keyboard and guitar, and yet the music can be laid back and mellow, with the vocal stylings of a versatile, female vocalist. Their music is easy to listen to, and quite familiar, consisting of great standards as well as contemporary interpretations of popular music today. The sound is guaranteed to please a variety of musical tastes. It is energetic and lively, and yet, not overpowering. Either way, it is clear that the Swingin' Shepherds can provide your establishment, or soiree with a very entertaining and enjoyable evening of music.

The Swingin' Shepherds feature Dave Gillespie on the keyboards. Dave has played extensively throughout the area as a jazz/cocktail pianist for many years. For five years he was the house pianist at the Hyatt Regency, and following that, he performed nightly at Lexitalia Restaurant. For the last thirty years, Dave has enjoyed performing throughout Lexington in a variety of musical venues. He is currently the director of the piano program at SCAPA, a performing arts, public school in Lexington, Kentucky.

John Hedger is an estalbished guitar player who has successfully performed in many venues himself, thorughout the years. He is an accomplished blues guitarist who has over 25 years of blues experience under his belt. John has had the pleasure of opening for many major blues recording acts over the years. His stringing blues guitar licks have entertained audiences as far away as The Rum Boogies Cafe on Beale St in Memphis, as well as the Slippery Noodle in Indianapolis. His repertoire includes not only blues, but also rock, jazz and classical. Currently John teaches guitar at three Kentucky colleges.

Angie Sanders is a very gifted and versatile song stylist, who has sung extensively throughout the area for the last 15 years, performing in a number of contemporary Pop groups. Her repertoire includes everything from Motown to Country, to Classic Rock and Jazz. An attractive singer and performer, she participated and performed in the Miss Kentucky Beauty Pageant in 1993, 1994, and 1995. She continues to perform regularly and enjoys singing in the Praise Band at Crossroads Christian Church.

The Swingin' Shepherds are sure to be a crowd pleaser and will be the perfect compliment for an enjoyable evening of fine music.
