About Tom Cool

TOM COOL YOLTON

Singer, songwriter, entertainer. An example of perseverance, dedication, and belief in oneself to have the ability to make a livelihood by plowing the tough waters of the music world. Having achieved some notoriety from his connections to an early unknown Springsteen, Tom realized the hard work it would take to have some form of success in the music industry. He has spent numerous decades honing his craft and performing skills. Accomplished guitarist, piano player and virtuoso harmonica player with a strong voice and command of his audience, Tom entices his listeners with comical quips and between song patter while playing with a clean guitar style and tasteful harmonica accompaniment.

His achievements include opening and performing with an early young Bruce Springsteen while in the rock group Mercy Flight in the early 70's on the east coast. Check out The Springsteen Stories below. Also opening for The Paul Butterfield Blues Band, fresh from their appearance at Woodstock, and The Chamber Brothers. After relocating to the central Kentucky area Tom found himself sharing the stage with Ricky Scaggs and Boone Creek, trading licks with John Hartford aboard The Julia Belle Swain riverboat and performing at bluegrass festivals with Bill Monroe, Doc Watson, Sam Bush and the New Grass Revival and many more.

Finding his comedy footing in the group Rockcastle County Line enabled Tom to continue performing across the country. From the ski slopes of Aspen, Colorado and Steamboat Springs to the vacation lands of Hilton Head S.C. and Key West FL. Traveling on the comedy circuit in the 80's sent Tom plying the waters of the lucrative comedy club scene with appearances alongside Tim Allen, Shirley Hemphill, Ed Yeager and countless others who to this day are still nameless. Tom has appeared many times in Put-in-Bay Ohio, the fabled vacation island in the Cleveland area of Lake Erie with an unmatched entertainment history. Tom has also made numerous radio appearances. As a regular on the Rocky and Troy Morning Show in Louisville KY., Kruser and Co. in Lexington, KY. and The Bob and Tom Show. He's had his comedy songs Drinking Shooters and The Wet Nap Song featured on the Dr. Demento Show from L.A.

Today, Tom appears throughout Central Kentucky. From the popular wine vineyard events of the area, Keeneland Race Track on Derby Day (where he has been the favorite entertainer for 8 years now and counting), to local fine restaurants and music clubs. Tom can be seen as a solo artist or with his revolving group The Cooligans at special events and parties.
