Dave Cottrell is a magician, comedian & an outstanding banjo player from Kentucky. He has been entertaining for most of his life and his rich unique KY flavor just pours out of him.

David did his first magic show for his 6th grade class at Simpsonville Elementary (KY) in 1971. Since then, he has performed over much of the United States. He performed in Japan (1993) and Germany (2002), Germany (2017). He has performed for 2 US Presidents and his bluegrass band, Kentucky Blue, are 3-time nominees for SPBMA Midwest Entertaining Bluegrass Band of the Year.

He has won numerous magic contests and awards. In 2001, he received a Presidential Citation from the President of the International Brotherhood of Magicians “Noting David’s service and good works for the advancement and excellence in the Art of Magic and fine works to be congratulated worldwide”. He has opened and performed shows with the likes of David Copperfield, Lance Burton, Jerry Reed, George Strait, Allison Krauss and many other stars.

Each of Dave’s stage-filled magic shows include live animals, lots of audience participation and a blazing 5 string bluegrass banjo to chime in now & then. His comedy show is full of jokes, stories, his accent brings out smiles and his banjo is the prop that he enjoys holding on to adding the occasional musical flare! Wait ‘til you hear how he also is a commercial fisherman who fishes the OH River for Caviar! Dave’s “down home” Kentucky style humor helps make for an entertaining show that people are sure to remember and talk about for the rest of their life! ....in a good way ! ...haha

As well as being a very funny comedian with rich Kentucky flavor, an amazingly talented magician, he is also a very proficient musician!... Dave has played banjo since he was very young. He is the band leader of Kentucky Blue , a well-known bluegrass band that plays all over Kentucky and the surrounding states, which has been together for over 30 years. Dave can provide strolling banjo (or magic) for festivals & for dinner parties, a bluegrass/folk duo, trio, quartet, or a rockin` bluegrass band (5 or 6 piece) who will get you on your feet!

The band instrumentation includes acoustic guitar, five string banjo, mandolin, upright bass, fiddle and vocals. Kentucky Blue does all crowd favorites and much more all in a traditional bluegrass style. With 2, 3, & 4 part harmonies and red hot blazing instrumentals, this group will leave you wanting more. They can play background music and set the perfect mood for cocktails or go table to table taking requests and interacting with the crowd, or they can do a full blown stage show which includes their great music, comedy, crowd interaction and can even include magic, if requested.
